Lindsay Lohan has risked the wrath of a judge by failing to turn up on time for the start of her trial in Los Angeles.
The Mean Girls star faced a race against the clock to make it to the city for her important court date on Monday morning (18Mar13) to face allegations she lied to police over a car crash last summer (12).
She was initially due to take the last commercial flight out of New York on Sunday night (17Mar13), but she disembarked the plane and waited to board a private jet instead over fears of a fuel leak.
Lohan's private plane was delayed on its departure from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and touched down in Los Angeles around five minutes after her 8.30am (local time) appointment at the Airport Courthouse.
The aircraft was diverted from California's Van Nuys airport, 20 miles (32 kilometres) from the court, to the closer Los Angeles International Airport, but Lohan was still more than 30 minutes late and hadn't arrived at the hearing as Wenn went to press.
Lohan is facing three misdemeanour charges stemming from the car accident in June last year (12) - reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers from performing their duties - after reportedly failing to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors.
If found guilty on all counts, she faces a jail sentence of more than 240 days.
