Lindsay Lohan will be joined by actor Grant Bowler in the forthcoming Lifetime biopic of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Lohan was cast as the late Hollywood actress last year, though film bosses have struggled to find an actor suitable to play the Welsh icon.
That search now appears to be over, after Deadline.com reported that Bowler would be officially joining the cast. The movie will center on the turbulent relationship of the Hollywood couple, who were married and divorced twice while constantly being hounded by the media. Bowler is perhaps best known for his role in the U.S. television comedy 'Ugly Betty', though also appeared in 'True Blood' and will soon star in the Syfy series 'Defiance'. 'Liz and DICk' begins production on June 4, 2012, and executive producer Larry A. Thompson said, "Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived. Burton was a Welsh poet, a rascal, and a man's man, who swept Elizabeth Tayloroff her feet and flew her so close to the sun that they both exploded into stardust that still lights up Hollywood". He also claimed the chemistry between Lohan and Bowler "erupted in the room" during a recent read-through.
The biopic will represent the first major project of Lohan's since the completion of her probation earlier this year.
