Lily Allen has written a song about her Twitter feud with rapper Azealia Banks.

The British pop star has returned to the spotlight with a new single, Hard Out Here, after spending four years raising a family, and she has now revealed her forthcoming third album features a track inspired by her recent falling out with Banks.

The two musicians became embroiled in an ugly online argument over the summer (13) after Banks accused the Smile singer of taking drugs. She also branded Allen's children "ugly" and declared that her husband "looks like a thumb" while Allen hit back by mocking Banks' record sales.

Allen was in the studio recording her new album when the feud kicked off, and she has now admitted the spat inspired her to write a song.

Speaking during an interview on Britain's BBC Radio 1, Allen says, "There was one person that was particularly nasty to me on Twitter for no reason and I was struggling with finding my voice... my writing voice. This one person was being particularly horrible to me and I happened to be in the studio at the time and it ignited this juvenile thing... so thank you Miss Banks."
