Lily Allen refuses to use public transport after a harrowing incident in a London subway when she was hounded by fellow train passengers.
The Smile hitmaker grew up using buses and underground train lines in her native London, but now prefers to use private cars to get around.
And it was one particularly distressing experience that left her traumatised - and convinced her never to set foot on the London Underground again.
She says, "Last time I went on the Underground was New Year's Eve a year or two ago. I'm a bit haunted by it now because I was trying to get into the centre of town to see my boyfriend and I was on my own.
"People started shouting and singing Smile at me and I was in tears: 'Just leave me alone!' And people were like, 'What the f**k are you doing on the Tube?'
"I thought, 'You know what, I'm not gonna get on the Tube for a while."
