Singer Lily Allen has blasted appearance-obsessed Americans for piling pressure on women to look perfect. The LDN star was left red-faced on a trip to New York when a customer in a beauty parlour recommended she book herself in for an arm-waxing session. Allen refused to let the comment bring her down - but insists such cutting remarks can destroy the confidence of weaker women. She says, "I remember getting a manicure in New York, and this lady who was having a forearm wax, which I'd never heard of before, looked at me and said, 'You'll need one soon, huh?' And I was like, 'No! What are you talking about?' "They make you feel really bad about yourself, unless you're completely pruned everywhere."
