American rapper Lil Wayne has been released from prison in time to see his protege Nicki Minaj enter into a album chart battle with Kanye West. The 28-year-old was released from Rikers Island prison in New York today (4th November 2010) after serving an eight month sentence for illegal possession of a weapon, and he will now witness the upcoming release of Minaj's debut album 'Pink Friday'.
LIL WAYNE signed 25-year-old Minaj to his 'Young Money Entertainment' record label, and her debut album is set to be released on November 22nd 2010. Discussing Wayne's legal problems back in February, the singer told MTV News, "It's sad, because he doesn't deserve to go to jail. I'm a cry-baby. You shouldn't ask me stuff like that. Reality hasn't set in that he has to go to jail. He shouldn't have to go to jail". 'Pink Friday', regarded as the most anticipated debut album of the year, is set to hit shelves the same day as KANYE WEST's new record, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', and a chart battle looks set to ensue.
Minaj recently featured on the track 'What's Wrong With Them' from LIL WAYNE's recently released album 'I Am Not a Human Being'.
