Lil Wayne is recovering after gashing his head while skateboarding in St Louis. The rapper, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, was skating in a suburban area on Sunday (21st August 2011) before a performance at the outdoor Verizon Amphitheatre, reports the Associated Press.
After hitting his head at the skate-park, Lil Wayne showed up at the DePaul Health Centre's Emergency Room accompanied by a large entourage. The hospital's spokeswoman Jamie Newell said she could not confirm the rapper was admitted to the facility because of privacy laws, but Wayne later tweeted, "The Lou was good but I busted my ... head at the sk8park! 9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people". Despite receiving a flurry of inquisitive messages from fans, Lil Wayne is yet to reveal the details of how he was hurt. The accident comes shortly after 'Weezy' announced he is to release new album 'Tha Carter IV' immediately after the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (28th August 2011). His last record, 'Tha Carter Iii' was the best-selling album of 2008 and scooped the Grammy Award for 'Best Rap Album'.
Lil Wayne, whose new record features Rick Ross and Drake, served time in a New York jail in 2010 after pleading guilty to a weapons charge.
