LIL' KIM "flat-out lied" to a grand jury about a 2001 shootout to protect her former manager and a friend, according to a prosecutor in the hip-hop star's perjury trial.
Federal prosecutor DANIEL GITNER made the charges in opening statements at the Lady Marmalade rapper's trial on Tuesday (01MAR05).
Kim, real name KIMBERLY JONES, and her assistant testified that the manager was not at the New York radio station during the fight, in which one man was wounded. But the manager, DAMION BUTLER, subsequently pleaded guilty to gun charges.
Defence attorney MEL SACHS suggested Lil' Kim was too traumatised by the gun battle at the rap radio station to recall every detail, arguing "a person can be incorrect and not intentionally lie".03/03/2005 02:36
