LIL' JON and MAROON 5 were honoured as Songwriters Of The Year at the BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday (16MAY06). The performing rights organisation's 54th Annual Pop Awards saluted hitmakers Weezer for BEVERLY HILLS, which was named College Song Of The Year, and Ciara, whose hit 1, 2 STEP bagged BMI's first ever Internet Song Of The Year gong. Veteran act CROSBY, STILLS + NASH were crowned the BMI Icons, praised for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers". Maroon 5, who also collected the BMI Pop Song Of The Year honour for SHE WILL BE LOVED paid tribute to the legendary threesome by performing GRAHAM NASH's OUR HOUSE.
