While he was still a businessman, Trump apparently expelled 1D from his hotel because they refused to meet his daughter.
Donald Trump’s new policies have been widely denounced and criticised for being tyrannical, but they can hardly have come as a surprise to Liam Payne, who recalled a time they were on the receiving end of the new president’s wrath when One Direction were kicked out of one of his hotels – because they refused to meet his daughter!
It’s not exactly clear when this happened, but Payne said that the band and their entourage were staying in Trump’s hotel in New York City and catching up on their sleep, when a request came from on high for 1D to meet the new POTUS’s kid.
“Trump actually kicked us out of his hotel once… You wouldn’t believe it. It was about [meeting] his daughter,” he told Rollacoaster magazine in a new interview.”

One Direction have just released their first single as a four piece and ex member Zayn is proud of his former bandmates.
Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has proved once and for all there’s no bad blood between him and his former bandmates. The singer, who left the group earlier this year, took to Twitter on Saturday to congratulate his former bandmates on their first single since his departure, 'Drag Me Down'.
Zayn Malik has shown his support for One Direction’s new single.
The group unexpectedly released ‘Drag Me Down’ on Thursday, with band member Liam Payne tweeting, ‘Bit of a surprise ! Check out our new single! It’s called Drag Me Down & I hope you love it as much as we do.’ The track then climbed to the top of the charts on iTunes and Spotify just hours after it’s shock release.
'Drag Me Down' appeared early on Friday morning, and with no radio airplay or promotion ahead of its release, it still reached the top of the iTunes and Spotify charts in double-quick time.
Just a day after Zayn Malik said that he had left them to make “#realmusic”, One Direction are showing that life continues without him as they dropped their first single as a quartet on Friday morning, entitled ‘Drag Me Down’.
The single made a surprise appearance on the iTunes store and Spotify at around 6:30am on Friday (July 31st), followed by its radio debut on BBC Radio 1 a couple of hours later. 1D’s Liam Payne also tweeted a link to the iTunes store, saying “Bit of a surprise! After Louis and Zayn’s twitter spat the band are looking to move on with an awards show appearance.
One Direction will be appearing at next weekend’s Billboard Music Awards, in their first public outing since Zayn Malik quit the band back in March. Billboard have confirmed that Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan will all be in attendance at the ceremony, where they will be presenting a trophy.
One Direction, now without Zayn Malik.
The group will surely be hoping to put recent dramas behind them with the appearance as they step out for the first time as a fourpiece. Last month former member Zayn Malik made his first public appearance since leaving the band, at the Asian Awards in London.
All it took was one very 'naughty boy' to start a boyband Twitter fight of epic proportions.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao might have been billed as the fight of the century last weekend, but don’t underestimate the drama which can occur when a former boyband member, his producer and his ex-bandmate get into a twitter spat. Yes just over a month after One Direction went from five to four, it appears the gloves are well and truly off between former member Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.
Zayn announced his departure from the boyband back in March.
It all started on Wednesday afternoon, when producer Naughty Boy, who’s been working with Zayn on solo material, tweeted an pic of the pair using an image filter along with the caption, ‘Replace this’.
One Direction have been writing songs for an upcoming fifth album, and Payne was describing them to Capital FM.
Barely a month after the departure of Zayn Malik, One Direction are clearly wasting no time in getting on with their career. Group member Liam Payne has suggested that the songs for their new album sound “great” and a bit like Oasis.

In news which might be upsetting to some, the group have just released their first official photo as a four piece, showing life will go on for the boyband after Zayn's departure.
The new One Direction, minus Zayn Malik
In the pic Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson stand against a plain background and appear to look a little apprehensive about their future. While some have described the image as a little on the depressing side, the band do seem to be getting on with things as normal and have even begun recording their fifth album.
The boys have given their first interview since the departure of Zayn Malik.
It’s been a tough couple of weeks for One Direction and the group’s legion of fans, but it seems the boys are beginning to come to terms with Zayn Malik's exit. Speaking for the first time since Zayn's departure, the band assured fans they would continue, despite going from a five piece to a four some in the past month.

Everyone's favourite boyband dished the dirt at the American Music Awards
One Direction are, quite simply, the best Artist of the Year. While this fact is already known by many of the boy band’s fans, it was unanimously proved at the American Music Awards when the boys scooped the Artist of the Year award and Favourite Pop Group.
The boys were crowned Artist of the Year at the AMAs
But having all this fame, fortune and adoration must have changed them in so many ways - surely they’re higher maintenance than they ever were?
The 21 year-old singer's unexpected absence forced the rest of the band to clarify that he is simply ill and not suffering with substance abuse issues.
One Direction kicked off their promotional tour for their newest album 'Four,' released today, by appearing on the 'Today' show in Orlando this morning (Nov 17th), but the 15,000 strong crowd gathered to see the band's performance noticed that they were one man short.
Zayn [second from the left] missed One Direction's 'Today' show performance this morning
Zayn Malik was nowhere to be seen during the band's morning show appearance, and since this isn't the first time he has been a no show, rumours quickly began circling that the 21-year-old singer is struggling with substance abuse issues.
A recent interview with One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles has sent the rumour mill spinning about the singer’s sexuality.
There's always hysteria with Harry Styles
Will the world's cutest chimpanzee make you watch One Direction's new video?
We never thought we'd be going 'Awwwwww!' while looking at pictures of One Direction, but the hairy co-star of their forthcoming new music video 'Steal My Girl' is killing us with unwavering cuteness. Those easily overwhelmed, look away now.
It was surprising, not to mention mildly amusing, when it was announced that Danny DeVito would be making an appearance in the video - it made us, admittedly, a little bit curious. But now that we've seen the other special guest on the set, a sunglasses-wearing chimpanzee, we're eager to see him in action.
Once again, One Direction have become front page news, but do people really find their recent drugs 'scandal' shocking?
Being caught with a joint is really nothing new in the world of pop, especially amongst those aggressively seeking a change of image that will subsequently add a semblance of ‘edge’ to their persona. For child stars especially, in attempts to free themselves from their enforced clean-cut youth and iconic childhood roles, to indulge in the smoking of marijuana is the go-to method of both distancing oneself from the past and declaring oneself as a fully independent adult.
The group have come under fire from the tabloids for Zayn and Louis' actions.
The celebrity world abounds with examples of such exploits. Remember the media storm over Justin Bieber’s incident with a “suspicious cigarette” or Miley Cyrus’ bong exploits, which have now evolved into her free and consistent utilization of marijuana symbolism? The celebrity media loves a scandal more than a Republican loves his right to bear firearms, but whilst the current One Direction drug ‘scandal’ has rather predictably been plastered all over the tabloid’s front pages, the majority of the public greets it with a collective shrug of the shoulders. They are, after all, adolescents- the prime age for indulging in experimentation with illicit substances and activities. Most adults will have indulged in similar instances of experimentation with an array substances at a similar age to these patchy-bearded pop stars. In terms of the pop world, this particular act has been seen many times before; so many times, in fact, that the whole ‘rebellion’ phase is part and parcel of the child actor discourse. Some take it just a little too far, and the ensuing descent into drugs has unfortunately claimed the lives of many of Hollywood’s exploited youngsters.
Liam Payne has revealed the band rarely see each other as Harry Styles pens a tune with John Legend, but are One Direction splitting up?
One Direction may have walked away with their fourth BRIT award on Wednesday (this time the award acknowledged their Global Success) but that hasn’t stopped talk of One Direction splitting up. 1D was formed in 2010 after they finished third in the seventh series of The X Factor and have since gone on to achieve worldwide fame, as well as accumulating an extremely spirited and vocal bunch of fans along the way. Their three albums have broken all sorts of records and have topped global charts so the last thing that anybody expected was the shocking revelation that they may have come to the end of the line (note educated reference to ultimate 1990’s boy band lyric).
Last week 1D bagged the BRIT for Global Success
The rumours that One Direction are splitting up began when member Liam Payne revealed that the award ceremony last Wednesday marked the first time that band members had seen in each other for three months. Fans flew into a panic that their favourite bunch of cheeky chaps are apparently not in as close contact as they would like the believe, fueling rumours that if the boys haven’t been in touch perhaps they are on rocky ground.

It's Liam's 20th and he's nothing but niceness.
Could Liam Payne, on his 20th birthday, be the most mature member of One Direction? After springing to his bandmate Harry Styles' defence after pop star Taylor Swift called him out in her VMAs acceptance speech, the singer has asked fans to donate to cancer charity Trekstock, if they'd like to give him a gift.
Liam Payne Hasn't Let Fame Turn Him Selfish.
This morning Liam greeted his fans by thanking them for the support in One Direction's short but stratospheric career. "Good morning everyone :) can't quite believe my life there's no bigger birthday present than what you've done for me in 3 years thank you xx," he wrote sweetly to the predictable storm of excited fan responses.
Filmmaker Spurlock (Super Size Me) is known for his investigative wit, but there's none of that in this on-message doc about the most successful boy band in history. Still, the fans won't be able to get enough of the backstage antics and lively performance clips. And those unfamiliar with One Direction will have fun too. Just don't expect to learn much about these five young men who continually say, "Back when we were little," even though they're still only 19-21 years old.
The filmmakers follow Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis on their world tour, visiting four continents as they play nearly 130 concerts for their hysterical fans, who all seem to be pre-teen girls. As we see them larking around on-stage, in the wings and on their tour bus, we also get their back-story, as they auditioned individually for The X Factor in 2010 and were assembled as a group in a spontaneous decision by Cowell. Their global success is the result of a viral Twitter onslaught, and the fans also get their say on-screen, gushing with their love for these five skinny, mop-haired guys who have serious vocal talents but have yet to prove themselves as musicians.
While the film captures the boys' strong camaraderie, cheeky energy and constant pranks (including silly Jackass-style closing-credits clips), we never really learn much about them. There is no attempt to explore their off-stage identities, what they do in their down-time, their romantic lives or musical inspirations. Some depth is provided in interviews with their parents, who offer emotional insight into how fame has changed their families. Aside from some lively off-handed moments, their interviews feel carefully media-trained, and there's no commentary from anyone outside their inner circle. But they emerge as grounded, likeable young guys who know how lucky they are, so they're making the most of their success in the short time they have at the top.

The film sees them going back to their roots and reuniting with old friends; Harry goes back to the bakery he used to work at, while Zayn shows he hasn't forgotten his loved ones by buying his mum a luxury house of her own. We see them through the eyes of their fans across the world, their proud parents and the owner of their record label Simon Cowell. They reveal how they've always wanted to sing, and show their genuine brotherly bond through countless on and off tour shenanigans including fishing and camping trips.

Do the individual publishing deals suggest the boys are thinking about life after One Direction?
Ah, we was wondering when this was going to happen. One Direction have added a couple more million to their bank accounts, though this time they're thinking for themselves. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne have signed SEPARATE publishing deals to cash in on all songs they have credits for writing.
It's a clear sign that the boys are beginning to look after their own interests following the phenomenal success of their first couple of years in the industry. The publishing deals are being overseen by Fingate, the company who also cash in on Elvis Presley's back catalogue as well as work by Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters.
A source said: "This is a real statement of intent from the band. They have absolutely no intention of being spoon-fed pop puppets. They want to write and they want to earn as individuals." As well as the new deals, each of the five members have also invested in their own studio set-ups at home and have been attending writing sessions together after gigs. On their latest record Take Me Home, the band had three songs with individual writing credits while the others were penned by outsider songwriters. The group did not have a hand in writing the three biggest hits from the album, Live While We're Young, Kiss You and Little Things.

Liam Payne dubbed 80's pop icon Boy George "weird" after a run-in at the Brits
The One Direction boys seemed in pretty high spirits at the BRIT Awards in London last night. There was Harry, dancing around the stage like a lunatic, Louis helping himself to the complimentary fizz, Zayn looking all mysterious and broody, and the little Irish fella was presumably just happy to be there. But what about Liam? Something appeared to have riled our Liam, and we may have found the answer. Ready for this? Deep breath.
80's pop star Boy George - who debuted a slimmer, altogether healthier look this week - was at the bash with his young niece, getting snaps with her favourite pop stars. Now, there appears to have been some confusion when the One Direction boys came there way. Later on Twitter, the Karma Chameleon hit-maker wrote, "Top marks to Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece and B*llox's to Liam and the disrespectful w**ker of a minder!" adding, "Stars of the night, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, Jessie J. Too many drug f**ked twits to mention elsewhere! Emily Sande (sic) was great!" George later suggested Harry Styles would leave the band, saying, "You heard it here first!"
They're the biggest boyband in the world since coming third in the seventh series of 'The X Factor' in 2011 and they've had two number one multi-platinum albums since their inception. One Direction are now here on the big screen in their first movie which chronicles their rollercoaster lives and dramatic pop career over the past year or so. We'll see the die hard devotion of their army of fans, how the boys feel about being away from their home and families all the time, how they've built such a strong, brotherly bond as a group and their general boyish shenanigans.

One Direction's Liam Payne said "to hell with tradition" and ditched the customary christmas turkey this year, going out for a Christmas curry with his family instead. Don't worry about the multi-millionaire's wallet though, because he had his parents pay for the meal (it is Christmas after all).
The 19-year-old boyband star went out, for the second year in a row apparently, to the local tandoori restaurant with his parents Geoff and Karen and sisters Nicola and Ruth in his native Wolverhampton to chow down on shish kebabs, naan bread and chicken tikka bhuna, rather than pigs in blankets, stuffing and roast vegetables. We're not entirely sure which meal option we would opt for ourselves, come to think of it.
Speaking to The Mirror, the restaurant's manager Jay Uddin said Liam always sticks to his favourite curry, and is something of a regular at the Penn Tandoori. He said, “He (Liam) pre-booked about two weeks in advance for the dinner and they came last Christmas as well, so it’s become a bit of a tradition with them now. Liam’s a regular and he used to visit the restaurant lots with his parents before he became famous. He loves his chicken tikka bhuna."

Harry Styles' might want to book his tattoo appointments for times that fit his schedule, as walking around with unfinished ink is just not cool, especially when it looks like he's got 'Things I C***' written on his arm.
The One Directioner was papped landing in L.A with his One Direction cronies, and some eagle eyed cameraman got a nifty close up of his latest - and unfinished - ink, and is it just us or does it contain a rather unsavoury profanity? Most outlets say the ink reads 'Things I can' and 'Things I can't' on Hazza's left and right forearm. But the latter looks suspiciously like the C-word. You need to get those tats finished before you show them off Harry; can't and c*** are too similar! During an appearance on Irish chat show, The Late Late Show, Harry revealed that he had been to the tattoo parlour that same day but refused to show them off as they were still bandaged up. He also declined to say what the tattoos actually meant, but his band mate Nial Horan quickly said: "It's a London thing," the Daily Mail reported.
The Ex-X-factor boys are in Los Angeles to perform on the U.S version of the show that made them famous. They're also set to meet up with Ellen DeGeneres on her show before Harry comes back to Dublin to get that tattoo finished up!
