Things are about to get serious for a certain trash-talking stuffed bear: Liam Neeson has signed on to join the cast of Ted 2

Ted better watch out as Neeson has a 'particular set of skills'

The star of films including Schindler's List and Taken is more known for his roles in big action thrillers, but did show his softer side earlier this year when he appeared in The Lego Movie as the literally two-faced Good Cop/Bad Cop. Seth MacFarlane revealed the news from his official Twitter, also confirming the casting of Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman that was rumoured earlier this week. There's no word yet on who either of the stars will play.

The two stars join Amanda Seyfried, who was announced as the film's female lead earlier this month, having previously worked with MacFarlane on this year's misguided flop, A Million Ways to Die in the West. Mark Wahlberg will also be returning as Ted's best friend, slacker John Bennett, whilst MacFarlane will once again be providing the voice of the foul-mouthed teddy who likes drinking and flirting with women more than the average bear.

The 2012 film was a huge box office success, raking in $550 million on a $50 million budget and rating highly with critics and audiences alike. It also won a handful of accolades from at such as Spike Guys' Choice Awards and MTV Movie Awards. However, Ted also attracted a lawsuit from the creators of a series called 'Charlie the Abusive Teddy Bear' who claimed that MacFarlane had ripped off their idea, which apparently originated in the 1990s.

The sequel is due for release on June 16th 2015, meanwhile Neeson can be seen currently starring in thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones.
