Rocker Liam Gallagher has branded his own fans "squares" after they slammed him for announcing his new band Beady Eye is to delve into the Oasis back catalogue at future gigs.
The British singer confirmed on Wednesday (14Mar12) that despite trying to bury his past by refusing to play Oasis songs on recent tours, he is now planning to introduce tracks by his former band onto Beady Eye's setlist at the Fuji Festival in Japan in July (12).
The news sparked a wave of criticism online because the vast majority of his former group's hit songs were penned by Gallagher's brother Noel, who he has frequently mocked in interviews since Oasis split in 2009.
Many fans accused Gallagher of dipping into his back catalogue to attract bigger support for Beady Eye - but the Wonderwall singer has now hit back, insisting his critics are overreacting.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "Listen up squares were (sic) playing them live not re recording them so chill LG x."
