A lawyer representing Liam Gallagher in his ongoing child support battle has insisted the British rocker is not a "bad guy" and has kept up to date with payments for his daughter Gemma.

The former Oasis star is currently locked in a legal tussle with Liza Ghorbani, the New York-based journalist who gave birth to his lovechild in 2013, and he was recently fined $5,000 (£3,125) for missing court hearings because he was too "depressed" to fly to the Big Apple.

Now Gallagher's attorney, Raoul Felder, has opened up about the case, accusing Ghorbani's legal team of sinking the last settlement offer. However, Felder insists his client should not be made out to be the villain of the piece because he has fulfilled all of his financial responsibilities so far.

Felder tells the New York Post, "On the Friday before the hearing, I believed we had a deal. I was preparing to tell the judge there was a settlement, but when I got to court, there was no deal and a letter demanding new terms. (Gallagher) has met every required payment, and continued to make payments when it was thrown out of family court... so how bad a guy can he be?"

It comes after Ghorbani's father, Danny Ghorbani, accused Gallagher of failing Gemma, saying, "Mr. Gallagher has been given every opportunity to do the right thing by my granddaughter. He has had plenty of time to do so voluntarily, but unfortunately, he has failed."
