ARETHA WILSON, the 40-year-old American woman who pleaded no contest to slashing Leonardo Dicaprio's face with a glass, has been jailed for two years, reports the Press Association. Wilson was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court judge Patricia Scnegg for assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred five years ago at film producer RICK SALOMON's party at his mansion in L.A. Ms Wilson slashed the 36-year-old actor across the face with a glass, leaving him needing 17 stitches for gashes to his face and ear. Wilson left for Canada after the attack but returned to the US earlier this year - she has been incarcerated since July. Her sentencing was initially delayed until authorities worked out how much time she should spent in prison, considering the several months she had already served. 'Inception' star Di Caprio was not present for the court's decision.
Wilson's lawyer Freddy Sayegh said that his client is likely to serve six months in prison, but may be deported to Canada after her release.
