Veteran singer Leo Sayer has been dramatically 'killed off' by a fan penning his entry on online encyclopedia site Wikipedia.
The 1970s pop star entered UK reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, alongside film director Ken Russell and former Jackson 5 star Jermaine Jackson, on Wednesday (03JAN07), but his arrival inspired an unlikely update of his life story.
An anonymous Wikipedia hacker claimed: "Leo was the fifth person to join the Celebrity Big Brother house... Upon entering the house, he was electrocuted and died."
A spokesman for the website said the hoax was removed almost immediately.
He added, "Leo's entry was changed several times the night he entered the house. This is fairly standard when someone comes into the public eye - people make changes, accurate or otherwise."
