British singer Lee Ryan spent part of his birthday behind bars after he was arrested following a brawl outside a nightclub in Oxford, England at the weekend (17-19Jun11).
The Blue star turned 28 on Friday (17Jun11) and headed to Oxford's Roppongi hotspot with his pals to celebrate the occasion.
But the night turned sour following a disagreement between several clubgoers, according to the Daily Mail Online.
A source tells the website, "A 20-year-old man... was punched a number of times in the face and as a result the police were called.
"Minutes later the police arrived in vans and cars and Lee Ryan was arrested and taken off to the cells. He wasn't very happy about it because it was his birthday and all his guests were still inside the club enjoying themselves."
Ryan was reportedly questioned at a local police station on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was released on police bail and told to report back to officials, who will decide whether to charge him, next month (Jul11).
A Thames Valley spokesperson says, "A 28-year-old man from Henley-on-Thames had been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm after an altercation outside the Roppongi nightclub."
