The two-time NBA champion has officially joined the cast of the upcoming comedy, which includes Amy Schumer, who wrote the screenplay, Bill Hader and Tilda Swinton.
Lebron James is taking his talents to the big-screen.
The NBA all-star has joined the cast of Judd Apatow's upcoming comedy 'Trainwreck,' which will be released in the summer of 2015.
James will be starring alongside Amy Schumer, who also wrote the script, Bill Hader, Tilda Swinton and Method Man, plus several others.
Apatow, who has produced blockbuster films such as 'Bridesmaids,' 'Wanderlust,' and 'Amchorman 2: The Legend Continues,' is producing the upcoming comedy under his Apatow Productions banner with Barry Mendel for Universal, reports The Los Angeles Times.
The 46 year-old filmmaker announced the news of LeBron joining the project via Twitter.
"LeBron James has joined the cast of my next film Trainwreck written by and starring @amyschumer," he tweeted on May 7th. "Welcome @KingJames."
The post was also accompanied by a link to Apatow's Facebook page, where he posted a video addressed to the two-time NBA champion.
"I know you're very busy with the playoffs," Apatow says in the video. "But I just wanted to say we're so glad that you are joining the cast of my next film, 'Tranwreck,' and now the world will finally get to see what your true gifts are...so welcome aboard."
Universal and James have already forged a partnership prior to this project, not only has the studio recently acquired rights to a production based on his high school playing years in Akron, Ohio, but the Miami Heat star is also set to star alongside comedian Kevin Hart in the Universal comedy 'Ballers.'
The 28 year-old athlete, who was the focus of the 2008 documentary 'More Than a Game', is also executive producing "Survivor's Remorse," a show set to air on Starz that follows a basketball hotshot dealing with the widespread attention he receives after signing a multi-million dollar contract.
'Trainwreck' is scheduled for release on July 24th, 2015.
