The spat kicked off after Rimes referred to Glanville’s children Mason, 9, and Jake, 5, as “my boys” on Twitter. They aren’t, but the father of them is Rimes’ ex-husband Eddie Cibrian. This incensed Glanville, and she hit back with her own comments on Rimes, suggesting that Mason had gotten sick after ingesting laxatives belonging to the country pop singer. Glanville had called Rimes “unstable” and “unhealthy” in the same interview, given to US Weekly, and Rimes wasn’t having any of it.
A statement released to ABC in rebuttal said: “There is only one person constantly speaking to the press and that is Brandi. Why do you think that is? Her whole show is based on controversy, drama and publicity”. Continuing the statement said of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star: “She is the only one to gain by spewing forth inaccuracies, rants and half-truths. It’s time for people to see it for what this really is — she has a book and show to promote and sell.”
The pair were never likely to see eye to eye given that Rimes had an affair with Cibrian whilst he was with Glanville and she was also in a relationship. The affair caused the pair to ditch their spouses in order to embark on their subsequently unsuccessful marriage.
