Leah Remini is set to join Dancing With the Stars. The former King of Queens actress will be appearing on the upcoming season of the celebrity dance competition. The news comes merely weeks after Remini's dealings with the Church of Scientology.

Leah Remini will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.

Remini, it has been confirmed by THR, is going to appear on the 17th season of the show, due to air on September 16th. She will be appearing alongside Jersey Shore star Snooki. Other competitors are rumoured, according to TMZ, to be Glee's Amber Riley; Hip Hop singer Christina Milian; and Saved By the Bell actress Elizabeth Berkley. The remainder of the competitors will be announced - unless unveiled by media outlets- on September 4th on Good Morning America

Remini has made headlines recently after leaving the Church of Scientology. She was one of the church's celebrity members and had been a member of the organisation since childhood. However, reports suggest Remini had numerous disagreements with the church's management. Remini said she left the church as "no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."  This refers to allegations that the church encourages members to completely sever contact with those who have left the organisation.

Another issue Remini raised with David Miscavige, the leader of the church, was regarding his wife Michelle, who has been out of the public eye for a number of years. The 43-year-old actress filed a missing persons report for Michelle with the LAPD which was proven to be "unfounded". The police claimed they had some form of contact with Michelle and the case was dropped.

The premiere of season 17th of Dancing With the Stars will be aired on 16th September at 8pm on ABC.

Snooki is due to appear on DWTS alongside Remini.
