Veteran British actor PETER O'TOOLE has laughed off speculation he could be nominated for a rare eighth Academy Award today (23JAN07), insisting, "It doesn't mean a sausage."
The Lawrence Of Arabia star, 74, has contested seven Best Actor awards in the past - making him one of only a few actors to be nominated five or more times without winning.
But 2007 could be O'Toole's lucky year because he's widely tipped to secure another nod for his role as veteran actor Maurice in VENUS.
However, speaking at the movie's London premiere last night (22JAN07), O'Toole played down the hype surrounding the Oscar list, insisting, "Are nominations tomorrow? I better start getting excited.
"A nomination wouldn't mean a sausage though. If I won the f**ker..."
O'Toole was named the recipient of a Special Oscar For Lifetime Achievement in 2003. He originally intended to turn it down on the grounds he would like more time to "win the lovely b**ger outright".
