Actress-turned-author Lauren Graham has been asked to start work on a follow-up to her debut novel Someday, Someday, Maybe after the new release was named on the New York Times bestsellers list.
The star's first literary offering, about an aspiring actress trying to make it in the Big Apple, hit retailers on 1 May (13) and it's already proved a big hit with fans, landing at number 16 on the famed Times countdown, which was published on Sunday (12May13).
The early success has prompted her publisher to option another book - and Graham admits she owes part of her success to Diane Keaton, because the veteran actress gave her the push she needed to launch herself as a writer.
She tells People magazine, "When I was filming Because I Said So with her (Keaton), she turned to me one day and said, 'You should write a book!' I was so flattered. It gave me permission to think maybe I can do this."
But Graham will be hoping her second novel will come more easily to her after experiencing writer's block while penning her debut story: "It took forever, a solid year (to complete). Sometimes it would come so easily, and sometimes I would sit there and stare. Apparently I'm not the only writer to miss deadlines!"
