Larry Hagman is set to reprise his role as the scheming oil baron 'JR Ewing' for an updated version of US soap-opera Dallas.
LARRY HAGMAN will be joined by original cast members Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray to film a pilot episode for a potential new series.
The updated show is likely to focus on Ewing's offspring as they fight for the family dynasty. 'Fast and the Furious' actress Jordana Brewster and 'Desperate Housewives' star JOSH HENDERSON are the new additions to the cast and CYNTHIA CIDRE, who penned the 1992 movie 'The Mambo Kings', has written the new episode. The original series, which ran from 1978 to 1991, became one of the most popular shows in television history, reaching its peak in 1980 when the 'Who Shot JR?' episode aired to a worldwide audience of 350 million. Dallas famously broadcast an entire series where every event was later revealed to be a dream.
Since leaving Dallas, Hagman has starred in a number of feature-films, most notably the 1998 political drama 'Primary Colours'. The film's lead, John Travolta, was rumoured to play 'JR Ewing' in a movie adaptation of 'Dallas' but the project never came to fruition.
