Lady GaGa "can't hold back The Tears" due to the repealing of the US army policy of 'Don't Ask,Don't Tell'.

The 'Alejandro' hitmaker took to twitter to voice her pride at the news, which means gay and lesbian US soldiers no longer have to hide their sexuality or risk losing their jobs.

She said: "Can't hold back the tears + pride. We did it!! Our voice was hear + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 years.

"Today I am so proud to be an American. I wish I was home so I could throw a Parade. We are on the way to full equal (sic)"

Lady Gaga went on the campaign trail to raise awareness and help repeal the policy, which was passed when Bill Clinton was president in 1993, and has been among a number of celebrities to voice their concern at it.

Ellen Degeneres, Kathy Griffin, Katy Perry and Ricky Martin have also gone on twitter to voice their happiness at the policy repealing.
