Lady GaGa has spoken of her admiration for Amy Winehouse, claiming the British singer made her career possible.
Since releasing her debut album FRANK in 2003, Amy has become well known for her unconventional ways as well as her music.
The US singer told PopEater she is grateful that the Back to Black star paved the way for more unusual personalities in the music world.
"I will always have a very deep love for Amy Winehouse. Because of Amy, very strange girls like me go to prom with very good-looking guys," she said.
"She's a different kind of woman... I don't believe that what I do is very digestible, and somehow Amy was the flu for pop music."
LADY GAGA added that it is now "not so unbearable" when another dose of "the flu" comes along.
The singer was recently stopped in the street by the police and accused of indecent exposure because of her tiny hotpants.
