La Toya Jackson is baffled by the public's "misconception" of her famous relatives, as she's convinced the families starring on current reality TV shows are much more controversial.
The singing family, ruled by patriarch Joe and his wife Katherine, has been under scrutiny ever since the Jackson 5 found fame in the 1960s.
Michael Jackson went on to dominate headlines throughout his life, but La Toya is adamant her relatives' antics aren't as shocking as those of other famous families who have landed TV shows.
She tells Piers Morgan, "I think what it is, when you grow up in the spotlight, everything is magnetised and everything is totally blown out of proportion. In the Jacksons' case it has been that throughout the entire careers of everyone.
"There's always this misconception of what people think the family should be... people mention the word dysfunctional - I don't really see that.
"I know that every family has their problems. I'm sure the Jacksons have their share of problems, we all do. However, it's nothing compared to what I've been seeing on reality TV. It's like, do people really act that way? We're nothing like that, we're so quiet and shy!"
