Former ‘Neighbours’ alumni Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce are set to reunite when they star in a new movie together, marking the first time they’ve been on set together since their Ramsay Street days over nearly 30 years ago.

They’re both set to work on comedy movie Flammable Children under the aegis of director Stephan Elliott, whom Pearce has worked with before on ‘90s cult classic The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. Radha Mitchell, star of London Has Fallen, is also due to feature in the film.

Set in Australia in 1975, Screen Australia states that Flammable Children takes place “as the sexual revolution is in full swing: Saigon will fall; the first sounds of 2JJ are hitting the airwaves; Australia is in constitutional crisis; and in a sleepy beachside suburb an extraordinary event will set in motion a crucial, comical and revelatory week for a teenage boy and girl. Something is about to go spectacularly wrong, and their lives will change forever.”

Production is due to begin in south-east Queensland in October this year, though a release date has not been confirmed.

48 year old Pearce, who played Mike Young in soap favourite ‘Neighbours’ from 1986 to 1989, will be starring alongside 47 year old Kylie, who played Charlene Robinson, at around the same time.

Some of the production team behind Priscilla..., a brilliant tale of drag queens travelling through the outback to perform in Alice Springs, will also be reuniting for the movie.

“We are so excited to be able to support Flammable Children,” CEO of Screen Australia Graeme Mason said. “In Kylie, Guy and Radha, the team has been able to secure some of Australia’s most established and iconic talents. The powerhouse in front of the camera is matched by the award-winning team behind it, who will bring our memories of 1970s Australia to life.”
