Kristen Wiig may not have been the talk of the red-carpet at the 84th Academy Awards, though she received quiet praise for her conservative gown by designer J. Mendel. The fashion critics were unanimous in their praise for the likes of Emma Stone and Viola Davis and fervent in their criticism of Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lopez, though Wiig will have been pleased with the positive response her look received.
Later in the evening, Kristen and her Bridesmaids co-stars appeared on-stage to present a number of prizes in the technical categories. The movie's runaway star Melissa McCarthy was unable to land the statuette for Best Supporting Actress, losing out to the big favorite Octavia Spencer. Kristen is managing to juggle her role as a cast-member on Saturday Night Live with writing and starring in feature films, including Bridesmaids. During a recent interview with the New York Post, Wiig spoke of her new 'party life', explaining that Saturday Night Live has the live show, the after-party and an after-after party. She said, "It's a six-and-a-half-day week. This year I've been an after-after sort of girl. Sometimes I need to blow off steam and go dance really hard".
The 84th Annual Academy Award were held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday (February 26, 2012). French silent movie 'The Artist' scooped most of the major awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for JEAN DUJARDIN.
