'Play It Again, Dick' is complete and ready for the lift-off.
New details have emerged about the Veronica Mars web-series Play it Again, Dick. The show was first announced in January, with creator Rob Thomas teasing a series that was tonally similar to Party Down but focused on a version of Ryan Hansen deciding to capitalize on the renewed popularity of Mars.
Kristen Bell as Veronica Mars in the recent crowd-funded movie
Fans could be forgiven for forgetting about the show in recent months - we haven't heard much since Thomas's announcement, until now. This week, BuzzFeed dished out a slew of details now filming on the eight-episode series is complete.
So, now we know that the web series revolves around a fictional Veronica Mars spin-off that Hansen has "written" as a star vehicle for himself. It's titled, Play It Again Dick. Kristen Bell plays a version of herself after "begrudgingly" agreeing to reprise her role.
Others returning for the show include Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Daran Norris, Francis Capra, Kyle Gallner, Christopher B. Duncan, Ryan Devil, Chris Lowell, Ken Marino, Amanda Noret and Lisa Thornhill.
Ryan Hansen [L] will lead the new series, 'Play It Again, Sam'
There's a few new faces too - most notably Robert Buckley and Rose McIver of iZombie. Buckley will play a flamboyant choreographer named Gaston who ends up replacing Dohring in Hansen's detective procedure, while McIver plays both a "Skank with Attitude" and "Horny Mourner"
So, things are a little confusing at this point, so it's probably best to just head over to The CWs Seed from September 15 to grab the 10 minute episodes.
