Comic-Con 2013: 10 Things You Really Don't Want to Miss

Geeks of the world unite, for San Diego Comic Con 2013 is finally here. The cast and creators of your favorite cult television shows and movies are descending on the Californian city to tease new series', reveal casting details and give away tons of free stuff.

This place is like Glastonbury - it's impossible for you to see everything you want to see - so you're just gonna have to accept the inevitable clashes and focus on our Top 10 events that you really don't want to miss.

First up, it's the Veronica Mars movie, obviously. The whole gang, including creator Rob Thomas and stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Ryan Hansen and Chris Lowell are heading to Comic-Con for an event at Hall H on Friday morning (July 19, 2013). Additionally, there's going to be some exclusive footage from the new movie - funded through Kickstarter - in an event on Friday evening at the Horton Plaza Regal Cinema. Do not miss it.

Comic-Con wouldn't be Comic-Con without The Walking Dead and Andrew Lincoln, David Morrissey, Norman Reedus, Seven Yeun and others will join the show's writing team to discuss what fans can expect from season four in a special event inside Hall H on Friday at 1.35pm. AMC's smash-hit has emerged as one of America's most popular shows and any true-fan should hear what Lincoln et al has to say about the upcoming instalment.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Heard of it? Of course you have. It's Joss Whedon's new project and it looks pretty, pretty, pretty good. Whedon and Marvel's head of television Jeph Loeb will be joined by "surprise guests" in Ballroom 20 on Friday at 1.45pm though we're not-so-exclusively going to reveal that Bear McCreary will be introduced as the composer for the new ABC series. McCreary is a bit of a genius in the television score business - his best known work being The Walking Dead.

Hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother is about to launch its final season and stars Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan, as well as creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, will be setting up at the Indigo Ballroom Hilton on Saturday at 12pm. We know a special video is going to be played for fans, though details remain sketchy. During the season finale, we found out that 'the mother' is little known actress Cristin Milioti - but how did Ted meet his future bride?

Breaking Bad! The big one! The biggest one! The best one! Yep, the newly crowned Hollywood Walk of Famer himself Bryan Cranston will be joined by Aaron Paul, Vince Gilligan and others to discuss the AMC's hit's final season which hits TV sets in August. It's easily one of the most anticipated conclusions to any series, ever, and fans attending the panel talk in Hall H on Sunday at 11.15am may well get some juicy previews of where Walter White's story takes him next. Hey, remember The X-Files? Of course you do. And it's back! Sort of. To celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, original stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson will be joined by Chris Carter, Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan and Howard Gordon for one of the most anticipated talks of Comic-Con 2013. It's been two decades since FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully began investigating unsolved paranormal cases and, unfortunately, the truth is still out there. Anderson recently won praise for BBC drama The Fall (recently renewed), though all attention will be on her most famous work in Ballroom 20 on Thursday at 3.30pm. We warn you: it's going to be busy.

Showtime's superb serial killer thriller Dexter is sadly coming to the end of its run, though fans still have a chance to say a final goodbye to the team when Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and co sit in on a panel in Hall H on Thursday at 6.30pm. The gang will be teasing the final season of the show and potentially dropping hints as to where Dexter's story will finish. What's more, you can catch The X-Files 20th Anniversary event before hop-footing it to catch the Dexter chat. Perfect.

Critics are already chalking up their potential Oscar nominees for next year, though one movie that's intriguing everyone - thanks to its weird trailer with George Clooney floating around for a bit - is Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity. The Comic-Con faithful will get the chance to see new footage from the sci-fi movie - probably in 3-D - in Hall H on Saturday, between 10.45am-1.15pm. We reckon a good amount of the 125,000 geeks will be heading to see Sandra Bullock answering questions on the movie, and don't count out George Clooney making an appearance too.

The Hunger-Games: Catching Fire debuted a couple of new posters this week (Hey, just in time for Comic-Con!) and Jennifer Lawrence will be appearing in front of 6,000 fans in Hall H on Saturday at 1.35pm. Even if you don't like The Hunger Games, it's probably still worth going to see Lawrence talk, for a bit. Expect footage from the new movie, not included in the latest trailer.

A story that we here at Contactmusic.com have been covering for the past couple of week is the Orson Scott Card/Ender's Game scandal - so just for your enjoyment, the cast of the forthcoming movie will be on-hand to answer questions in Hall H on Thursday at 3.50pm! Will anyone dare ask about Card's controversial views? There's only one way to find out.
