Glamorous star Kirsten Dunst credits director Sofia Coppola with turning her into a woman.

The sexy actress starred in Coppola's 1999 hit The Virgin Suicides and was so moved by the "life-changing experience", she burst into tears while paying homage to the film-maker at a tribute at New York's Museum of Modern Art in front of her then-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal, actor Bill Murray and maverick director QUENTIN TARANTINO.

She gushes, "It was Sofia who changed me. It was a life-changing experience. She didn't want me to be the 'cute American girl'. Which is what all the others had seen me as. I have so much more to bring into a project now. Which is just one of the reasons I can't wait to work with Sofia on MARIE ANTOINETTE."
