Screen veteran Kirk Douglas thrilled fans on Monday (15MAR04), when he appeared as a surprise castmember during a celebrity stage performance of OSCAR Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.

FRASIER stars Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce and John Mahoney had starring roles in FRASIER GOES WILDE, a celebratory benefit reading of the classic play in Los Angeles.

And the audience was given an extra surprise when, moments into the reading, SPARTACUS star Douglas stepped out onto the stage as the butler LANE, wowing onlookers with his sharp performance.

Lovable Frasier dog MOOSE also made an appearance on the night - with a tuxedo bow tie around his collar.

The evening was held to benefit new play development at the KIRK DOUGLAS THEATRE.
