Brits Long For Fresh Air As Long Working Hours Take Their Toll

Kimberley Walsh - With a third of Brits (31%) working an average of an extra 7.5 hours a week - equivalent to a whole extra day - on top of their normal working week, it is not surprising that the nation's workforce is craving freshness and the great outdoors. Nearly two thirds (65%) feel they lack fresh air due to not being able to spend enough time outside. The research by fabric conditioner Comfort Intense reveals that over a quarter of Brits only spend time outside 1-2 times a week, and that the lack of fresh air can really influence our moods. Over half (51%) admitted being stuck in the office caused them to feel anxious or irritable whilst over a third (39%) miss the fresh smells associated with the great outdoors from not spending enough time outside. The nation's favourite outdoor smells were found to be freshly cut grass (39%), flowers (24%), barbeques (11%) and the woods (9%). When it comes to outdoor spaces - specifically gardens - the research found a third (31%) take their inspirations for its design from books or film, with The Secret Garden being the most inspiring fictional garden (27%). To give Brits a breath of fresh air and to celebrate the new Comfort Intense range - delivering intense freshness from wash to wear - Comfort will be opening a new immersive garden for one day only on Thursday 16th July. However this is no ordinary garden as all of the flowers are made entirely out of freshly washed clothes, allowing visitors to experience the intense freshness for themselves. Kimberley Walsh and Comfort Intense will be launching the garden in Covent Garden on 16th July. Fernanda Tubini-Roberts, Senior Brand Manager, Comfort explains: "It's shocking to see a third of the nation aren't getting to enjoy the freshness of the outdoors, due to working as much as an extra day per week. To encourage Brits to get Al Fresco rather than Al Desko, we've created the ultimate flower experience made of clothes in London's Covent Garden.
