From Kim and Kanye to Emma and Andrew, couples ruled the Met Ball's red carpet.
Sunday night’s Met Ball was full of fabulous gowns that we couldn’t take our eyes off, but some stars had more than just a dazzling accessory on their arm. Couples were everywhere on the red carpet and the A-list pairings made sure they were couture-ly co-ordinated and stunningly in sync for fashion’s biggest night out.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the Met Ball
Let’s start with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Fresh off their love it or loathe it Vogue cover and making probably their last big appearance before the wedding, these two looked every inch the glamorous power couple together. Kim avoided a fashion mis-step by keeping in classic in Lavin, while Kanye continued to look like the world’s proudest groom to be on her arm.

Not wishing to be undone, Beyonce and Jay-Z were their usual stylish selves, as they put on an affectionate red carpet display which included Jay doing a joke ‘proposal’ when Bey lost her ring. Another classic couple, Victoria and David Beckham, went full throttle on the couple coordinating with Victoria in a white dress form her own label and David in a matching tuxedo jacket. They might have been giving some fashion tips to Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson who were similarly matched with Diane in a slinky Jason Wu for Hugo Boss dress.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds oozed vintage glamour on Sunday
Usually red carpet shy, Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds made their debut appearance together channelling vintage Hollywood glamour to make a picture perfect paring. Blake’s breathtaking Gucci gown was one of the evening show stealers, while Ryan complimented her perfectly in his classic velvet tux, also by Gucci.

The hottest new couple on the red carpet scene, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, brought young Hollywood to the Met Ball with their colourful choices. Emma wore a two tone pink Thakoon dress, while Andrew put a youthful spin on the traditional tux with his Band of Outsiders blazer.
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield made the Met couple debut
Johnny Depp and fiancee Amber Heard were as dazzling as expected, with Johnny going all out vintage Hollywood by accessorising with a silver topped cane and a pocket watch. But all eyes were fixed on Amber in her gold embroidered Giambattista Valli gown as she made her Met debut.
As they say, the couple who carefully choses their outfits together for an A-list gala stays together (at least we think that’s it). Judging by the couples on display Sunday night, love really is the best accessory when it comes to turning heads on the red carpet.
