Sources told TMZ that Kim, 33, asked producers to find her an alternative seat because she still blames the 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker for her split from Rob Kardashian - Kim's brother - in 2012.
Although Kim wasn't a ''diva'' about the issue, it's claimed that she was keen to avoid speaking to her brother's ex at the lavish ceremony in California.
The curvaceous brunette was ultimately seated next to her half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Shortly after their split in 2012, Rob took to Twitter to allege that Rita cheated on him with 20 men.
He wrote: ''She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together... But I mean 20?!!!! (sic)''
Rob was also involved in a two-year relationship with Adrienne Bailon prior to seeing Rita. She later claimed that their romance had stunted her career.
However, it appears that there are no lingering feelings of resentment from Kim towards Adrienne.
Asked if she would prefer to have Adrienne or Rita as a sister-in-law, Kim told 'Watch What Happens Live' in August: ''I would say Adrienne Bailon because she was in our lives for a long time and I know she's a really sweet girl, she has good intentions and she has a good heart.''
