Kim Kardashian is just seven pounds away from her pre-pregnancy weight.

The newly engaged reality TV star has lost 43 of the 50 pounds she gained while expecting her daughter North West, who was born in June, and is relieved to feel more like herself again.

The 33-year-old beauty told People.com: ''Pregnancy for me was a lot tougher than people saw on my show or from magazines. So to get back to feeling like myself just makes me feel good again.''

The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star, whose boyfriend Kanye West popped the question in San Francisco on Monday night (21.10.13), credits the Atkins diet, regular exercise and breast feeding for helping her to get her famous curves back in shape.

She said: ''Losing this weight has not been easy, but I did it, and that's so rewarding, I was dedicated and motivated, and for me, that paid off. It makes me feel like I have the strength to take on other challenges.''

She added: ''This was the biggest challenge of my life, and I still have some to go.''

Kim also admitted that she was very hurt by the scrutiny she attracted during her pregnancy and it has made her much more guarded.

She said: ''Every day I would hear people criticise me, and it would affect me. Little by little it would chip away at my soul. I wanted to tune out the media and my public life and ignore it all.''
