Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Wedding, May 24th: What Can We Expect?

So Kim Kardashian and Kanye West might have finally set the date for their wedding, May 24th in Paris, if you believe the rumors. Undobutedly the Kimye nuptials will be the celebrity wedding of year, after all, this pair aren't known for keeping anything low key. So what can we expect from Kim and Kanye’s big day?

Remember back in October when Kanye proposed to Kim on her birthday in San Francisco with a 15 carat diamond ring? Well that’s the kind of thing Kanye is into, grand, romantic gestures, but it seems Kim may be keeping his imagination on a leash for their wedding. The reality star told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show last month, ‘'We're having a super, super small, intimate wedding, as we go along, we're realizing we want it to be smaller and more intimate than people are imagining and thinking.’ Oh no, could it be that Kim and Kanye wont deliver the grand affair we’re all hoping for?

It’s not that big a surprise that Kim doesn't want to go too overboard for the wedding. After all her wedding to Kris Humphris was a mammoth affair featuring 440 guests, a Vera Wang gown and of course the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ film crew. We all know how that one turned out, 72 days later Kris and Kim had filed for divorce, taking their place in the shortest celebrity marriages of all time Hall of Fame. It might also be worth remembering that this is in fact Km’s third marriage, way back in 2000, the then 19 year old eloped with music producer Damon Thomas. That one lasted three years. So maybe Kim’s just trying to find a middle ground between her two trips to the altar.

Kanye, of course, does have a little bit of a reputation for being a control freak, so its no surprise that its being reported that he won't be taking a back seating in the planning. A source has told Life and Style magazine that Kanye is firmly in charge, saying, "he's working on all these huge surprises for the wedding, but as a result she has virtually no idea what is going to happen at her own wedding. She's been kept in the dark about a lot of the details, and that doesn't make her happy." Yes whilst Kim may have been happy with a small ceremony, the venue being talked about is Château d’Ussé, a castle in central France which is said to have been the inspiration for the The Sleeping Beauty fairy tale by Charles Perrault, fitting for a couple who see themselves as American royalty. If the couple do pick this picturesque venue they wedding will be likely to top Kim’s wedding to Kris Humphries in the extravagant stakes. France itself is quite an obvious choice for the couple who enjoy taking trips there, with Kanye having an apartment in Paris.

As for Kim’s dress, for her wedding to Kris she opted for Vera Wang, but this time anything is possible. Kim has long been trying to get herself taken seriously in the high fashion world, so expect her to pull out all the stops for her wedding dress. Kim may just have her pick of designers this time, at least the ones that Kanye is not currently boycotting. We also wouldn't be surprised if she has a costume change at some point to.

Of course we expect the whole Kardashian Klan to be heavily involved in the wedding. Khole and Kourtney will obviously be bridesmaids, then there’s the younger sisters Kylie and Kendall and little North will probably be involved in some way too, at least for many photo ops. The one big question though, who will walk Kim down the aisle? Now that mother Kris has separated from Bruce Jenner after over 20 years of marriage many are wondering if Bruce will even get a wedding invite. After all he was noticeably absent at the proposal. Bruce has also be generating much media attention on his own in the past few months, with his ever changing appearance. It is thought that Kim and Bruce are still on good terms so hopefully he’ll be the one ‘giving her away’ to Kanye.

Another thing to note is the couple’s choice of date. If reports of May 24th are correct that’s when a comet is apparently going to burst through the Earth’s atmosphere and create a meteor shower. That sounds like the kind of romantic atmosphere that Kimye would be looking for on their big day. The date is also 2 weeks before the rapper’s 37th birthday.

Whatever Kim and Kanye’s wedding plans are at least we can rest assured that we’ll get to see the wedding. The ceremony is pretty much certain to be filmed for ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ and is expected to air sometime late next year. Some consolation if we don't manage to score an invite.
