SEX AND THE CITY star Kim Cattrall wants to shed her sex-obsessed image by playing "conservative" characters.

Cattrall, 48, is keen to avoid being typecast after finding international fame for her role as the libidinous Samantha Jones in the seminal New York dating show.

A source says, "She is terrified of being typecast as a sex-obsessed older woman. She wants to shed her vixen image fast."

This attempt to take another direction in her professional life is evident in her upcoming film ICE PRINCESS where she "wears nothing but cardigans and twin sets" and "instructed wardrobe that she wanted to look stylish but conservative".
