Kim Cattrall has finally admitted that a pay dispute was the reason behind Sex And The City's premature ending.

The 48-year-old, who played Samantha Jones in the hit show, told British chat show host Jonathan Ross demands for $1 million (GBP555,000) per episode forced producers to pull the plug on a proposed seventh series and a movie.

Cattrall said on BBC programme FRIDAY NIGHT WITH JONATHAN ROSS (10DEC04), "I felt after six years it was time for all of us to participate in the financial windfall of Sex and The City.

"When they didn't seem keen on that I thought it was time to move on."

On set tension is believed to have surfaced during the second series when Sarah Jessica Parker became an executive producer - bumping her salary up to a reported $3.24 million (GBP1.8 million) per episode.

However, Cattrall hasn't ruled out the possibility of playing Samantha again. She added, "If the deal was right and the script was fabulous, absolutely I would."
