Kiesza (born Kiesa Rae Ellestad 16.01.89) is a singer songwriter from Canada.
Childhood: Kiesza grew up in Calgary, Canada. Her parents divorced when she was 18. At 17, she landed the position of Naval Communicator in the Royal Canadian Navy reserves, during which time she learned guitar. She also did various styles of dancing in the Young Canadians. She studied music at Selkirk College before transferring to Berklee College of Music. She then moved to New York to further pursue a music career.
Career: She released her tongue-in-cheek debut single 'Oops' in 2012. The following year she appeared on Donkeyboy's song 'Triggerfinger'. She has written music for Kylie, Rihanna and Icona Pop. Her number one single 'Hideaway' was released in 2014 through Lokal Legend, with the titular album being released later that year. She also recorded a cover of Haddaway's 'What Is Love' and her second single was entitled 'Giant In My Heart'. She worked with Diplo and Skrillex on 'Take You There', taken from their collaborative mixtape, and also worked on Gorgon City and Jennifer Hudson's 'Go All Night'.
Pop sensations settled down for interviews as they prepared for their Jingle Ball concert.
As usual, the Y100 Jingle Ball was a pop explosion with some of 2014's biggest chart sensations giving it their all on this year's stage in Miami, Florida. Among which we saw Ariana Grande, Pharrell and Iggy Azalea - but what did they get up to backstage?

'Miami's #1 Hit Music Station' Y100 hosted the perfect pre-Christmas concert on December 21st 2014 at the BB&T Center with this year seeing ultra sultry performances from the likes of Ariana Grande and Jessie J - who looked like serious besties as they hung out backstage, ever since they collaborated with Nicki Minaj on J's number one 'Bang Bang' earlier this year.

Kiesza is gearing up to release her new album later in October.
For not even having an album out yet, pop singer-songwriter Kiesza is doing pretty well for herself. She just recently collaborated with Skrillex and Diplo on their project Jack U, and gave what was probably the greatest late night TV performance when she was on David Letterman this past July. Oh, and a top five single doesn’t hurt either. All of this is leading up to Kiesza’s debut full-length, Sound of a Woman, out October 21.
Kiesza is releasing her first album titled Sound of a Woman
The 25 year old Canadian artist is gearing up for her October record with a bunch of new music released already. Back in July, Kiesza dropped her EP, Hideaway, which includes four tracks that’ll be on the full-length, and they were songs that rightfully put her on the map. The title song, ‘Hideaway,’ reached number five in Canada, one in the UK, and 51 in America, while the 90’s house-inspired ‘Giant In My Heart’ was easily the strongest on the effort. What can’t be ignored is Kiesza’s take on the Haddaway classic, ‘What Is Love,’ which was turned from an upbeat dance number into a unique stripped down ballad.
