Kevin Costner was brought to tears when he heard what his kids really think of him in a new documentary.

American cable channel A+E interviewed the movie star for an hour-long look at his life as a family man, but producers had a treat in store for him - they also interviewed his kids.

Costner reveals, "Every kid wants to go to work with their dad or their mom and see what they do, and I live an unusual life, so I take my kids to work with me.

"They see what they see and when there is a small part and I can put them in, to have them close, I selfishly want them close."

Costner found a role for teenage daughter Annie in his new western OPEN RANGE, and she admits it was a real thrill - bringing her dad to tears on camera. She says, "Working with my dad is really great. It's great to be able to do that with someone you love more than anything."
