A hearing on discovery in the sexual assault case introduced new evidence regarding a text message sent by Kesha to Lady Gaga in April 2016.
A text message dated from April 2016 that Kesha sent to Lady Gaga was added to evidence in a court hearing late last year regarding the status of the ongoing case. A judge gave permission for Dr. Luke to share this message with both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry – although the actual contents of the message have been sealed.
E! News reports that it was presented in a hearing on December 26th in New York City when both parties were working out a process of discovery – meaning the records and documents they will agree to exchange with each other.
The singer has had a tough 2016.
Kesha has posted an emotional message to fans on Instagram, promising that 2017 will finally see the release of new music.

This was probably one of the most special Billboard award shows ever.
The 2016 Billboard Music Awards took place yesterday (May 22nd 2016) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with Canadian singer The Weeknd taking home no less than eight gongs for his work over the past year. Adele also won big, though her five accolades were meagre compared to her R&B counterpart.
The Weeknd takes home eight awards
The Weeknd - real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye - landed almost more awards than he could carry. The prizes for Top Hot 100 Artist, Song Sales Artist, Radio Songs Artist, Streaming Songs Artist and Top R&B Artist were all presented to him, as was the Top R&B Song and Streaming Song for his number one platinum single 'The Hills' and the Top R&B Album for his second album 'Beauty Behind the Madness' released last year.
Two days ago, Dr. Luke's record label Kemosabe had blocked Kesha's planned performance at Sunday night's ceremony.
Kesha’s performance at this weekend’s Billboard Music Awards are back on, following a reversal of the decision taken by Dr. Luke’s record label earlier this week.
On Tuesday (May 17th), the under-fire producer’s record label Kemosabe withdrew permission for Kesha to perform at Sunday night’s Billboard Awards ceremony after it learned that she was planning to use her appearance to reference the ongoing court proceedings between them.
However, a little over a day later, Kesha’s performance is back on after the label obtained assurances that she would not do so.

The singer was due to perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ at the ceremony on Sunday.
Singer Kesha has spoken out after her performance at this year’s Billboard Music Awards was cancelled when Dr Luke’s record label Kemosabe Records withdrew their support. Kesha was due to perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ at the ceremony on May 22nd, but it had been previously reported that the performance would include ‘direct references to her ongoing legal battle with Dr Luke’.
Kesha will no longer be performing at the Billboard Music Awards.
On Instagram Kesha wrote: "I was very excited to perform a tribute to Bob Dylan by singing a cover of "It ain't me, babe" at the Billboard awards this year. I'm very sad and sorry to say I won't be allowed to do this.”
So far, the judge has kept the case on hold.
Things are getting a little complicated in the legal proceedings between Kesha and Dr. Luke, because now she's planning to go full steam ahead with claims she made against Luke in Los Angeles, alleging that he subjected her to physical, emotional and sexual assault. The case had originally been put on hold, pending the outcome of her New York dispute which, sadly, saw her remaining chained to her contract with Kemosabe Records.
Kesha is trying to lift the hold on her LA court claims
Unfortunately, the judge has decided to keep the case on hold for now, despite Kesha's attorneys claiming that they have made significant amendments to the original claim. This heartbreaking decision comes just a day after Kesha posted a positive message to her Instagram followers.

Her first single in three years.
We're so glad we didn't have to wait too long for this. Zedd and Kesha have just unveiled the latter's first single in three years; a remix of the DJ's song 'True Colors' which Coachella Festival goers will have heard on the first weekend of the event when they collaborated during Zedd's set.
Kesha is back in business with 'True Colors'

Sebert had countersued Dr. Luke for infliction of emotional distress after he had sued her for defamation, by allegedly spreading rumours that he sexually assaulted Kesha to the press.
The complicated and seemingly endless dispute between Kesha and her erstwhile producer Lukas Gottwald (aka. Dr. Luke), but one aspect of it appears to have been ended after Kesha’s mother dropped her counterclaims against him this week.
This particular part of the case started in Tennessee, where Dr. Luke originally sued the pop star’s mother, Pebe Sebert, for defamation and tortious interference. According to him, she had “smeared” him by circulating rumours that he raped Kesha to bloggers and the press after an alleged extortion attempt, which he says Kesha and her mother concocted together, over a contractual disagreement failed.
In turn, Pebe Sebert countersued on the basis of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and it is this countersuit that she withdrew on Tuesday (April 26th), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Canadian electronic artist Grimes has opened up about her own opinions of the male dominated music production industry with regards to Kesha's ongoing legal situation with Dr. Luke. As it turns out, sexual discrimination is not a circumstance she's entirely unfamiliar with.
Grimes reveals what goes on in the studio
Asked about her thoughts on Kesha's lawsuit against Dr. Luke for alleged rape and abuse, Grimes - aka Claire Boucher - confesses that she's had her own struggles with male producers. 'I don't know enough about the specifics of that situation, because it seems very complicated', she told Rolling Stone in an interview. 'But I will say that I've been in numerous situations where male producers would literally be like, 'We won't finish the song unless you come back to my hotel room'. If I was younger or in a more financially desperate situation, maybe I would have done that.'

Kesha had argued that to force her to continue working with Sony and her alleged abuser, producer Dr. Luke, was tantamount to "slavery".
A New York judge has dismissed Kesha’s motion to terminate her contract with Sony in the wake of the pop star’s allegations of sexual abuse against her former producer Dr. Luke.
Judge Shirley Kornreich refused to overrule an earlier verdict in February this year, after Kesha’s lawyers had argued that to keep her contract with Sony in place was tantamount to “slavery”. The judge also held that Sony’s offer for Kesha to continue to record with them – but without any involvement from Dr. Luke or the companies he effectively controls within the Sony structure.

Kesha has claimed she was offered her freedom if she agreed to lie and publicly apologise.
Producer Dr Luke has responded to claims made by Kesha over the weekend that she was ‘offered her freedom’ if she lied and said she ‘never got raped’. Kesha made the claims in an Instagram post on Sunday, that most likely referred to her contract with Dr Luke, which is currently the subject of an ongoing legal battle.
Kesha has claimed she was offered her freedom in return for lying.
The post on Kesha’s Instagram page read: “So. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH."
The singer’s lawyers have likened her contract to ‘slavey’.
Kesha has filed an appeal against the New York Supreme Court ruling last month, that dismissed her request for a preliminary injunction, that would allow her to record music outside of working with producer Dr Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald). The singer has previously accused her longtime collaborator of drugging and raping her. Luke has also countersued for breach of contract and defamation, while denying the allegations.
Kesha has filled an appeal over last month’s court ruling in her case against Dr. Luke.
The documents, filled by Kesha’s legal team and obtained by People read: "The court erred in basing its decision on its finding that Kesha could record without interference from Gottwald.” They go on to compare Kesha’s contract with the producer to slavery.

The singer claims he's 'not a good guy'.
It looks like Kesha's case against Dr. Luke has just got a boost from fellow Sony artist Kelly Clarkson, who has now revealed that she has her own reservations about the producer as well after being 'blackmailed' into working with him despite the fact that she thinks he 'lies a lot'.
Kelly Clarkson opens up about Dr. Luke
The 'Piece By Piece' singer threw caution to the winds when she took to Twitter in support of her troubled peer Kesha after it was ruled by New York Supreme Court that the latter would not be freed from her record label in order to continue to make a living as a recording artist, despite accusing producer Dr. Luke of emotional and sexual abuse. And now Clarkson has gone a step further by publicly slamming the producer in an interview on Australia's KIIS 1065 Kyle & Jackie O Breakfast Show.
The singer gave an emotional speech as she accepted the award in her hometown of Nashville.

Accepting the award, Kesha referenced her recent struggles which have seen her embroiled in a contract dispute with Sony. Dr Luke has always denied the allegations.

Her defeat is not stopping her.
She promised us a full statement and that's exactly what we've got from Kesha, as she takes the time to urge the young women of the world to speak out against those who bully and abuse them, as well as thank everyone who has given her messages of support and risked their own careers to comfort her.

It's been a trying few days for Kesha as she tries to come to terms with the judge's decision do deny her release from her sony contract with Dr. Luke, and no doubt continues to struggle financially particularly in paying her legal fees (thought Taylor Swift has helped with that). But one thing she is most certainly not having difficulty with is finding support for her cause.

Who else is backing the 'Tik Tok' hitmaker?
Since Kesha lost her case against her alleged abuser Dr. Luke, she's received an overwhelming amount of support from fans and fellow celebrities alike. She may have been denied a preliminary injunction from his Sony imprint Kemosabe that would allow her to continue her career in an environment where she would feel safer, but so many people are still very much standing behind her.
Kesha continues to win support from her fellow artists
Lorde, Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert, Clean Bandit, Haim and Halsey to name but a few, have all written messages of support over Twitter, confessing their horror at the situation and offering their prayers. Here are just a few more stars who are really pushing the #FreeKesha campaign.
She says a longer statement will be released in due course.
Since the verdict over Kesha's requested preliminary injunction against Dr. Luke went against the singer on Friday, it's been a heartbreaking time for her supporters. And with so much intense support came Dr. Luke's own statement of denial via Twitter, and now Kesha herself has taken to social media to acknowledge her fans.
Kesha cries over fan support
Kesha looked positively devastated in photos released from the New York Supreme Court when she was told by the judge that, essentially, she would not be freed from her contract with Sony despite her claims that producer Dr. Luke 'sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused' her. But since then, she's received an overwhelming influx of positive messages from fans and peers alike, with fellow popstar Taylor Swift even donating $250,000 towards her legal fees.

He defends himself against Kesha supporters following Friday's ruling.
Dr. Luke has finally spoken out about his ongoing legal battle with Kesha, who's desperate to be released from her Kemosabe Records contract after alleging that the producer sexually and emotionally abused her. In a public statement, Dr. Luke once again denies the allegations and explains his side of the story.
Dr. Luke denies all allegations made by Kesha
The furore over Kesha's denial of a preliminary injunction from the New York Supreme Court judge has been so intense, that Dr. Luke - real name Lukasz Gottwald - has been driven to finally break his silence on the issue. No doubt he's been receiving a flurry of threats and abusive comments from Kesha's supporters recently, as the world remains divided over whether or not the incident of Luke apparently raping Kesha took place or not.
The Fun. guitarist and the DJ have reached out to Kesha over social media and offered to help her record new music.
After Kesha lost the latest round of her legal battle to free herself from her contract with producer Dr Luke, a number of artists have been showing their support for the singer on social media. However, she did make it pretty clear that she felt she cared more about Kesha's court case than Swift, who had donated $250,000 to the cause.
Demi Lovato has been busy on Twitter lately, voicing support for Kesha in her battle to free herself from a recording contract with a man who allegedly raped her, and then bizarrely seeming to call out Taylor Swift for supporting her too.
“Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action,” she had tweeted in the small hours of Sunday (February 21st) in relation to Kesha’s case, after the judge in the case ruled against her attempts to free herself from the contract with producer Dr. Luke last week.

Heartbreaking images from the New York Supreme Court over the weekend showed pop singer Kesha in floods of tears as a judge ruled that she would not be freed from her contract with her alleged abuser Dr. Luke. But a beacon of light is still glowing for her as Taylor Swift donates a quarter of a million dollars to help her continue to fight her case.

Swift's generosity could mark a huge turning point for the 'Tik Tok' hitmaker, who was denied freedom from Lukasz Gottwald's Sony-subsidiary label Kemosabe Records by New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich on Friday (February 19th 2016). A representative for Swift confirmed her generosity in a statement. 'In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time', they said, while Kesha's mother also took to Twitter to show her gratitude for the 'Bad Blood' singer.

The Lion King cast surprised passengers with their impromptu song on the subway, we look at other musicians who have given subterranean busking a pop.
Anyone who has ever travelled on the London Underground or the New York subway system knows that the experience is usually a dull and laborious affair. The carriages are sweltering and filled with people trudging to and from work, trying to avoid eye contact with everyone else despite the intense proximity of fellow passengers. All of these facets render the latest internet viral sensation as a harm-warming act to enliven the dreary public transport experience.

Earlier this summer, members of the cast from the Broadway hit Lion King broke into spontaneous song on the New York A-train. The resulting video is currently doing the rounds on social media. The A Cappella version of ‘The Circle Of Life’ leaves many passengers enthralled, clearly delighted to have their journey brightened by the performers impressive talents sing and clap along to the spectacle. Others, however, react with a passive indifference with a few even keeping their headphones in through the song’s entirety. But the Lion King cast’s impromptu performance is far from the first to take place on a subway system. We take a look at some other examples.

The pop star will be ushering in a new generation of talent.
Kesha has signed on to serve as a judge on a new ABC singing talent show, Rising Star, as part of a panel of experts alongside rapper Ludacris and singer-songwriter Brad Paisley. The 'Tik Tok' star's appointment on the reality TV show will be her first since her recent rehab stay, which was due prompted by eating disorder.
Kesha Is About To Become A Judge On New Singing Show, 'Rising Star.'
The contest, which is set to premiere on the 22nd June hosted by singer Josh Groban, has a fairly simple premise: prior to the show, viewers enter online through a free app that will allow them to vote in real time when the contestants are performing.
Congratulations to Kesha for making it through!
Kesha is a whole new woman – or a healthier one, at least, which is always a good thing. Since exiting rehab earlier this week, the Timber singer has been making an effort to project a much more positive image – including, apparently, changing her stage name.
You’ll notice the lack of a dollar sign in the singer’s pseudonym – that’s not a typo. Kesha herself has stopped using the symbol and even dropped it from her twitter name. It must be a big deal, if it’s Twitter official.
Before and after: happy and positive Kesha even looks like a new person.
The concert was banned, because Ke$ha's act was deemed to directly conflict with the country's religion and culture.
Despite her colorful party girl persona, Ke$ha isn’t typically a celebrity, whose name often features in gossip headlines. However, the Crazy Kids singer did make news recently, after her Warrior Tour was banned from Malaysia, according to Rolling Stone.
Ke$ha's act was deemed too provocative by the Malaysian government.
Now, Ke$ha has always been known for Risque performances and wild videos, although she’s kept it pretty tame in real life. However, the Malaysian government has ruled that her performances “'touched on religious sensitivities and Malaysian values” and therefore do not have a place in the country.
Ok, so people should probably go easy on Ke$ha. We can think of a thousand songs that would be deemed slightly inappropriate to play in the wake of the Newtown school massacre, though it seems the Tik-Tok star hasn't been telling the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
In case you haven't heard, Ke$ha claimed to have been forced into singing the lyrics for her track 'Die Young', after several radio stations around the country stopped playing it. She told Twitter followers, "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO." The track - a Billboard hit - featured the lyrics, "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young. We're gonna die young. We're gonna die young." The problem is, Ke$ha is credited as a co-writer of the track and during an appearance on 95.5 WPLJ in New York back in November she told the host, "I definitely make sure that every word rings true to me because I would never want to misrepresent myself to millions of people around the world ... I wrote and rewrote and rewrote that song ten times." You can't have it both ways, Ke$ha.
On December 18, the singer seemingly apologised for the whole furore, saying, "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."

Several radio stations have pulled Ke$ha's popular tune 'Die Young' following the tragic school shooting in Connecticut last Friday. The song concerns making the most of a night out "like we're gonna die young," which some program directors deemed inappropriate under the circumstances, reports Billboard.
A morning host of Connecticut's WDAQ station said that although the song may be about "seizing the moment, unfortunately, "all people are going to hear right now is those two words in the title." As a result, the station will not be playing the song, as well as Foster The People's Pumped Up Kicks. Ke$ha's song currently sits at No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, though it seems the singer herself isn't too keen on the track. She tweeted that she stands behind the decision to pull the song, saying that she herself questioned the song's lyrics from the beginning, "[I] understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO," later adding, "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."
Ke$ha has sold 3 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide.
Ke$ha has apologized publicly for any offence caused by her song ‘Die Young,’ in the wake of the recent Newtown school massacre. She also claimed that she was forced to sing the lyrics and claims that she was never comfortable with singing them, for the very reason that something like this tragedy may happen.
On her Twitter page, according to The Herald Sun Kesha wrote “I had my very own issues with ‘die young’ for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.” That tweet has now been deleted – perhaps she was forced to do that, too. She replaced it with a new message – a simple apology this time, saying “I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy.and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express.”
In the aftermath of the Newtown tragedy, in which 26 people were killed by a gunman who entered an elementary school and opened fire, Ke$ha’s hit single was pulled from radio stations, to avoid causing offence to the public and to those affected by the events in the Connecticut school. The offending lyrics were “Looking for some trouble tonight /Take my hand, I'll show you the wild, side / Like it's the last night of our lives / We'll keep dancing till we die / Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young / We're gonna die young.”
The Rolling Stones lead vocalist appeared for an interview on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' and, to the viewers' amusement, produced a list entitled: 'Top Ten Things I, Mick Jagger, Have Learned After 50 Years In Rock 'n' Roll'. On the list was a light-hearted dig at Maroon 5's song 'Moves Like Jagger' featuring Christina Aguilera, the video of which begins with footage of Jagger in his younger years and later shows singer Adam Levine trying out some of the famous dance moves. Jagger had written on his list that he had learned that "You don't earn a cent when someone does a song about having moves like Jagger." The music legend also drew laughs from his other advice which included, "Be considerate of other hotel guests - trash your room by 10 pm" and, "Before shouting 'Hi Seattle!' make sure you're in Seattle."
'Moves Like Jagger' is not the first number one hit that has referenced the star; he has also been mentioned in Ke$ha's 'TiK ToK' ('We kick em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger') and Cher Lloyd's 'Swagger Jagger'.
As with most things Ke$ha does, Warrior is a statement of intent. And that intent seems to be the intent to party. And maybe to playfight a little. And then to continue partying, until night turns into day and back again. She nails her colours firmly to the mast in 'C'Mon,' where she states, quite clearly, "I wanna stay up all night / I wanna just screw around / I don't wanna think about what's gonna be after this / I wanna just live right now." Ke$ha's preaching nihilism, within the confines of modern pop music. And modern pop music's confines state that in order to be a successful female pop star, you either have to be bonkers or beautiful. Or both. And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why she has a dollar sign in her name.
There's no one quite like Ke$ha out there, you see. She might not quite have the gravitational pull of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry or Rihanna just yet but listening to an entire album's worth of Ke$ha's material is a gazillion times more enriching than doing the same with any of her apparent peers. She doesn't waste her time peppering her music with constant self-conscious cultural references, a la Lady Gaga. Nor is she a victim of the kind of super-slick PR machinery that holds together the pop construct that we call Rihanna. Ke$ha shows little sign of restraint on Warrior and that's precisely what makes it such an entertaining listen. And it's a genuine lack of restraint, too, not the kind of tongue-in-cheek "ooh, look at me being dead naughty" lack of restraint that Katy Perry touts, either.
Talking of Perry, there's a moment at the start of the opening track ('Warrior') in which Ke$ha's vocals seem to be mimicking the Teenage Dream singer. Thankfully, any moments of imitation seem to be fleeting and incidental (or, if they're deliberate, then brief enough to make the point that she needn't rely on someone else's style to carry her through). Like the moment on 'C'Mon' when she goes all Nicki Minaj, before quickly bringing it all back home to the House of Ke$ha.

Look at the picture above. It's Ke$ha arriving for the MTV Video and Music Awards back in 2010. She doesn't look great does she? Perhaps more suited to a night out on a street corner than one spent at a glitzy music event. Of course, Ke$ha's arrival into the music scene always saw her marketed as a trashy, uncompromising entity, foul-mouthed and shameless; whilst that was great for a novelty it sure led to a general mauling by the fashion critics every time she stepped out in public. However...

Despite admitting she once had sex with a ghost, Kesha has categorically denied that she slept with Justin Bieber. In a bizarre lawsuit - reported by TMZ.com - Bieber is accused of cheating on his girlfriend with Kesha, Rihanna and Penelope Cruz, by someone alleging to be Selena Gomez's father.
Confused? So is Kesha, who told Australian radio show Hot30 Countdown, "I mean that's news to me .No, I have not, for the record, ever slept with Justin Bieber. More than that, he has a girlfriend who is really, really hot, so. I think he's sorted." In the frankly comical court documents filed earlier this year, the man alleging to be Selena's father says "Bieber has cost me $426.78 and never paid me back. This money was used as abortion money because Justin Bieber got my daughter Selena pregnant in my bedroom, on my canadian bear rug." Oh no, not the Canadian bear rug! Even funnier, he adds, "Usher Raymond came to my house on the fourth of July 2012 and sodomized me with a firework and lit it inside my anal area while blaring kate perry [sic] firework song in my ear drums." So just to recap, that's Usher sodomizing Selena Gomez's father with a firework while listening to Katy Perry.
None of this will worry Bieber, who is currently out on his tour of North American before he heads to the UK in February.

Kesha claims she once had a sexual experience with a ghost. The 25-year-old pop star was speaking on KIIS FM about the inspiration and ideas behind her spooky new song ‘Supernatural’.
The single is the second to be taken from Kesha’s new album ‘Warrior,’ which is packed full of electro-rock and dance-pop themes. As for the writing of ‘Supernatural,’ the singer explained, “It's about experiences with the supernatural…but in a sexy way. I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don't know his name! He was a ghost! I'm very open to it.” It seems as though the entire record was inspired by similar oddities, and Kesha added, “The theme of this record is magic. I went on a spirit journey by myself. No security guard. No managers. I just went around the world and lived on a boat.” Kesha’s Tik Tok single catapulted the Californian to fame in 2009, gaining generally mixed reviews, though selling millions. To be fair, she’s enlisted a pretty impressive team for the new record, with The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne lending a hand, as well as rock stalwart Iggy Pop.
‘Warrior’ – the follow-up the Kesha’s 2010 debut LP ‘Animal’ – will be released on December 3, 2012.
