Celebrated choreographer Kenny Ortega has agreed to work double duty on the upcoming Footloose movie, so he can teach Michael Jackson new moves for his upcoming London comeback concerts.
Ortega, the man behind the pop superstar's HiStory and Dangerous tour spectaculars, has stepped in to help Jackson and his This Is It performers perfect their dance steps.
Hot off the heels from his success as the brains behind the High School Musical franchise dance moves, the choreographer is splitting his time between the Footloose set and Jackson's airport hangar rehearsal space in Burbank, California.
In a statement, Ortega calls Jackson "the greatest entertainer of our generation," adding he jumped at the chance to work with the King of Pop again, explaining, "My answer without a beat was nothing could keep me away."
Jackson will perform 50 shows at London's O2 Arena, beginning in July (09), and he has selected 10 dancers from extensive Los Angeles auditions to join him onstage.
The recent two-day try-outs attracted more than 700 hopefuls to downtown Los Angeles' Nokia L.A. Live venue.
