Country star Kenny Chesney has written a special theme song for a new sports TV show.
Bosses at the Espn network commissioned the hitmaker and avid American football fan to record a tune for their upcoming series Rise Up, which aims to help renovate needy high school sports facilities across America by giving them a makeover.
And Chesney was so touched by the programme's positive mission, he named the song after the show and included a touching call-to-action message of his own.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, show producer Joan Lynch recalls recruiting Chesney for the project: "He said to me, 'Joan, this is the hardest thing I've done.' And then he watched the (New Orleans, Louisiana episode of the show) and he wrote the song in two hours. I couldn't believe it when he emailed me the lyrics."
Rise Up is set to air in the U.S. on 13 September (11).
