Kenny Chesney's has scored the first country number one album of the year in America with a staggering 550,000 sales in a week.

His new album, WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN, shot to the top of the Billboard charts, making it his second LP to debut at number one.

The singer's 2002 album, NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO PROBLEM, scored opening week sales of 235,000 and has gone on to sell 3.1 million copies in the US.

Chesney beat rockers Incubus to the top of the charts. They're A CROW LEFT OF MURDER album sold 332,000 copies to debut at number two.
