Fact: Kendrick Lamar was handed the keys to the city of Compton, California, in a ceremony on Friday (12Feb16). In January (16) it was announced that the rapper would be honoured by Mayor Aja Brown after she praised his efforts to "challenge the status quo". Kendrick beamed during the ceremony, and proudly posted a photo of the event's invitation on Twitter.com, simply writing, "Compton".
Fact: Adele, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Little Big Town are set to perform at the upcoming Grammy Awards on 15 February (16). Lamar leads the nominations with 11, closely followed by The Weeknd and Taylor Swift with seven. The ceremony will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Fact: Kendrick Lamar brought a little festive cheer to the streets of his hometown by taking part in Compton's 63rd Annual Christmas Parade in California on Saturday (12Dec15). The rapper, who was named Grand Marshal of the city's parade by Mayor Aja Brown, was also joined by fellow rapper YG, and the pair waved to thousands of fans along the parade route.
Fact: Kendrick Lamar's plan to surprise a pair of rap fans by crashing their recent wedding in Columbus, Ohio almost fell apart after he and his crew were almost kicked out of the reception. Video footage of last month's (Oct15) incident has only now surfaced on TMZ.com, and in the clip, Kendrick can be seen taking over the dance floor as Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody blares through the speakers. However, the hip-hop star is then stopped by an older man, who questions his attendance - until other guests realise their party crasher is the famous rapper.
Fact: Taylor Swift has recruited rapper Kendrick Lamar to make an unlikely cameo in her star-studded Bad Blood music video. The Swimming Pools (Drank) hitmaker plays a character called Welvin Da Great, and joins previously announced celebrities Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss, Hailee Steinfeld, Zendaya Coleman, Ellie Goulding and Hayley Williams, among others. The promo will debut at the start of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on 17 May (15).
Fact: Rapper Kendrick Lamar has teamed up with U.S. health food firm Sweetgreen to create a new salad called Beets Don't Kale My Vibe. The title is a play on the name of the star's hit single B**ch Don't Kill My Vibe. The dish will be sold in Sweetgreen stores across America ahead of Lamar's performance at the company's Sweetlife Festival next month (May15).
Fact: Rapper Kendrick Lamar will be putting his ball skills to the test on 27 April (15) when he throws out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. The hip-hop star will step up to the mound at Dodger Stadium before the home team faces off against its California rivals, the San Francisco Giants.
Fact: Imagine Dragons, Weezer, Kendrick Lamar and Cypress Hill are among the acts who have signed up to perform at the inaugural Made In America festival in Los Angeles. The two-day event, launched by Jay Z in 2012, will take place at L.A. Grand Park over the same Labor Day weekend (30-31Aug14) as the original Philadelphia, Pennsylvania bash, which will feature Kanye West, Kings of Leon, The National and Pharrell Williams, among others.
Fact: A$Ap Rocky has been drafted in to replace fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar at the Parklife Weekender music festival in Manchester, England. The Swimming Pools (Drank) hitmaker was forced to pull out of the 7 June (14) event due to scheduling issues.
Fact: Touring rap festival Rock The Bells is set to return in 2014 after poor sales forced officials to scrap its remaining two dates in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey earlier this year (13). The shows had kicked off in September (13) with two events in California featuring Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Kid Cudi.

Fact: Rapper Kendrick Lamar treated fans to a free show in Los Angeles on Sunday (21Oct12), staging the impromptu gig atop a bus outside the Staples Center. The last-minute show was designed to boost publicity for his debut album good Kid m.A.A.d. city, which was released on Tuesday (23Oct12).
