Kendall Jenner is pegged to be the new face of Topshop, will Sir Philip Green's favourite, Kate Moss, take the aspiring model under her wing?
Kendall Jenner has done something quite extraordinary this year. The 18 year old sister of reality TV star Kim Kardashian has managed to totally turn around the direction that her career was heading in and establish herself as a coveted high fashion model. Rather than following the easy route that was laid out for her in reality TV, Kendall pursued her dream to become a runway model and so far, the girl’s done good.
Kendall wore a bespoke Topshop creation to the Met Gala
Kendall has walked the Marc Jacobs and Giles Deacon catwalks in recent months and two months ago she appeared at the Topshop Unique show, where she sat with Vogue US editor Anna Wintour and Arcadia CEO Sir Philip Green. Topshop is one of the many clothing stores which make up the Arcadia group, so this “meeting” was obviously part of a much bigger plan.
Kendall’s clearly become a Topshop convert since meeting the Arcadia CEO, appearing at none other than the Met Gala wearing a Topshop corseted gown. While all of the other celebs were dressed by the major fashion houses, her sister Kim wearing Lanvin, Kendall’s choice to wear Topshop seemed a little ambiguous, no matter how beautiful she looked in the dress.
Kendall’s decision to don the pink gown may be slightly cleared up by recent rumours that she is pegged to become one of the new Topshop models. She obviously wowed Sir Philip when they first met, the pair were snapped together after the Topshop Unique show finished. Her dress may also be explained by the fact that she was Sir Philip’s guest at the Met Gala, along with fellow models Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman.
UK clothes store Topshop has recently moved across the pond and opened in a few locations in the US. As an American model Kendall could be used to broaden exposure tot the brand in the States, she certainly has the whole all-American girl thing going for her. Topshop is internationally regarded as one of the most current and fashionable high street clothing lines, so it certainly won’t do Kendall any hard to be associated with them.
Kate Moss, pictured wearing designs from her latest Topshop collection, may be able to offer Kendall some advice
Although Kate Moss was already very famous by the time she started collaborating with the brand, it’s done wonders for her career. The model was still recovering from the ‘Cocaine Kate’ scandal when she launched her first Topshop collection, but it was so successful that it helped her progress past the incident. Moss has been extremely welcoming to new models on the scene, and has been known to mentor Cara Delevingne. Perhaps she’ll take young Kendall under her very experienced wing now that the pair may be seeing much more of each other.
