LATEST: Film director Ken Russell thought his wife ELIZE was burning to death in their country home on Monday (03APR06) and rushed into the blaze to rescue her. The English film-maker, whose 16th century cottage in East Boldre, Hampshire went up in flames during the early hours of the morning, was relieved to find his wife had run out of the house naked after hearing the fire alarm go off while having a bath. He says, "I thought my wife was burning to death. I tried three times to get to her and she wasn't even inside. "She was naked and running around outside." Russell was returning from a doctor's appointment when he found his home ablaze. An investigation into the cause of the fire continues. However, it is not thought to be the result of arson.
