'Frasier' actor Kelsey Grammer admits he and his estranged wife had been ''discussing'' separating for a while before his spouse filed for divorce.
Kelsey Grammer and his estranged wife had been "discussing" separating for a while.
The 'Frasier' actor admits he and his spouse of 13-years Camille Donatacci - who filed for divorce from him earlier this week - enjoyed many "wonderful" years together, but there were parts of their romance they felt unable to work through.
He wrote: "Camille and I had been discussing the possibility of a separation for some time before all this happened. She finally decided she should file. I respect her for this decision. I mean her no harm... Let me say that Camille and I shared many wonderful things throughout our years together; there were just a few things that we couldn't work out."
The 55-year-old actor also denies reports he didn't telephone their children - Mason Olivia, eight, and Jude Gordan, five - on Father's Day last month.
He wrote in his official blog: "The truth is that I did call my kids that evening. Frankly, I was surprised that they did not call me in the morning but I was thousands of miles away and working that day so I didn't give it a second thought.
"I love my kids and I miss them terribly. I have spoken to Mason and her brother Jude every day before; perhaps it was foolish of me to expect a call on Father's Day, but frankly I did."
Kelsey also admits his failed marriage hasn't put him off women for life, and he expects to get back on the dating scene in the near future.
He added: "Certainly, the time will come when I do see another woman. I expect Camille to see other men. I hope people and the press will understand that we are both free to carry on with our lives. I ask that everyone remain discreet for the sake of our children; I will certainly do so."
