Texan singer Kelly Clarkson has finally addressed rumours concerning her sexuality, claiming she is not a lesbian, but just has little time to date men. Some fans have questioned her sexual orientation, given her long-term single status.
However, the singer, who released new album 'Stronger' on Tuesday (25th October 2011), refuted the claims during an interview on The View, saying, "I'm from a small town so everyone's, like, married with children, having children or about to have children, so it's a little hard when you go home ... and that's why people think I'm gay". The 'Since U Been Gone' star says she regularly hears "I don't understand why you're not married" when back in her hometown, adding, "I'm like, 'Well, it's not like that, it doesn't happen for everyone. For Burleson, in Texas... I'm an old maid!" When pushed on her personal life, the 29-year-old said, "I've dated some cool guys, but I don't know if I've met someone I can spend the rest of my life with ... I haven't found anyone that I would put that [career] on the side for". 'Stronger', the singer's fifth full-length album in nine years, is likely to chart high in this week's Billboard 200 despite first single 'Mr Know It All' stalling outside the Hot 100's top 20.
Clarkson will appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday (28th October 2011) before performing at the 2011 American Music Awards on 20th November 2011.
