Keira Knightley suffered such agony wearing a towering wig in new period drama THE DUCHESS, crewmembers had to build a platform to rest it on.
The Atonement star squeezed into a rib-busting corset and donned a huge hairpiece for the role of 18th century aristocrat Georgiana Cavendish in the movie.
But her costume was so extravagant it started taking a toll on her health - until set workers improvised to solve the problem.
She tells USA Today newspaper, "High heels are bad enough. I don't think you need a corset and wigs, as well. The wigs were the problem. They were big like birdcages. The hats were sewn onto the tops of them. And the whole thing was glued to my head, pinned in.
"I had neck ache. I literally couldn't hold the thing up. So they built me a stand so I could rest the whole lot on."
